Jeff described his work as follows:
“I’m a photographer located in California who specializes in dynamic landscapes. I’m consistently drawn
to interfaces in the natural world – whether that be where dynamic meets stationary or where biotic
meets abiotic – I believe these areas of interface make for the best photographs. I grew up on the East
Coast of the USA and have always lived near the water; I’m not sure what I would do with myself if there
wasn’t a vast body of water close by.
I hope you enjoy checking out my images as much as I’ve enjoyed making them.”
On August 7, 2014, Jeff lost his hard-fought, 2 ½ year battle with Metastatic Melanoma. During this
fight, the Melanoma Research Foundation became an important resource and community. Its website
provided valuable information about new research and treatments both to him and his family, and he
found knowledge, strength, emotional support and commiseration amongst his fellow melanoma
warriors in its forums. As a sign of his support and hope Jeff donated 25% of his profits from print sales
to the Melanoma Research Foundation (www.melanoma.org).
In Jeff’s memory, we have begun donating the profits from his print sales to the Melanoma Research
Foundation. Metastatic Melanoma has yet to encounter a treatment with a success rate of more than
35%. There have been great strides made with the new immunotherapy developed over the last couple
of years, but we are still nowhere even close to a cure or even a 50/50 chance of long-term remission.
The research must continue for those still fighting as well as the thousands yet to be diagnosed.
Melanoma is increasing at a rate faster than any other cancer. It is estimated that there will be 77,000
melanoma diagnoses and nearly 10,000 deaths in 2014.
